Traveling for Labor Day? Keep these 5 items in mind and in your suitcase
Labor Day weekend is the perfect time for one last summer getaway, but traveling can take a toll on your already tired and sore legs… Worry not! To ensure you make the most of your holiday, we share here our five leg-soothing essentials to pack in your suitcase. They'll help alleviate discomfort and swelling, allowing you to savor every moment of your trip.
Compression Socks: Compression socks are a traveler's best friend when it comes to leg health. These specially designed socks provide graduated pressure that helps improve blood circulation, reduce swelling, and prevent the development of blood clots during long journeys. Whether you're on a plane, train, or road trip, wearing compression socks can make a significant difference in how your legs feel when you reach your destination. Tip: make sure to also bring a comfy pair of shoes to go with your compression socks!
Hydrating Supplements: Staying hydrated is crucial to preventing leg swelling. Pack electrolyte supplements or drink mixes that you can add to water (we like DropDrop electrolyte powder packs). These supplements replenish essential electrolytes lost during travel and help regulate fluid balance in your body, reducing the risk of leg swelling. Proper hydration also promotes overall well-being during your trip.
Travel-Sized Muscle Rub: A small container of muscle rub or topical analgesic can be a lifesaver for sore legs. Apply it to your calves and thighs after a long day of exploring or travel. The soothing sensation of menthol or camphor can provide instant relief and help relax tired leg muscles. If you don’t like using topical analgesics, we recommend aloe vera gel. A small bottle of aloe vera gel can be a lifesaver! Its soothing, anti-inflammatory properties can relieve sunburn and soothe swollen skin.
Cooling Gel Packs: Compact and easily chilled, cooling gel packs are excellent for soothing swollen or overheated legs. Use them during breaks to alleviate discomfort, especially when walking for prolonged hours in hot weather. Make sure to also pack a few of our LegDay masks and put them in a fridge or a cool place at your destination. You can apply the masks in the evening after a long day of travel or exploring. You can find them here!
Foot Roller: Include a small foot roller in your travel kit to provide relief for tired and achy feet. Roll your feet over the textured surface to massage and stretch the muscles, helping to alleviate tension and discomfort after a day of exploration.
We are going to cheat a bit and add another item… anti-inflammatory medication. If you deal with considerable leg pain, we recommend to pack a small supply of over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication, like ibuprofen, to manage pain and swelling in case of acute discomfort.
With these travel essentials at your disposal, you'll be well-prepared to tackle leg discomfort during your Labor Day adventures. Whether it's support, hydration or cooling, these items, including the handy feet roller, will ensure your journey is pain-free and comfortable!
